If you’re just discovering this blog, you should understand that I’m not just posting things I like (although I usually do) but am doing more. In other words, I’m trying to accomplishment something. This takes up a lot of my time and since I also have other responsibilities in life I usually only follow others who are also doing what I am. I try to look at what those who follow me post and I will like or reblog what attracts me.

This is what I don’t like:

Pornography – It’s violent and ugly and one product of a sick virulent culture

Clichés or an expression of something attributed to be a universal truth, e.g., quoting Confucius, etc.

Lake of interest in what is happening in the world

I enjoy listening to the music, I continue to enjoy my photographs and videos (it’s the memories associated with them) and if others enjoy this as well, that’s good.

If you think everything looks bad right now, it’s not too late to change what the future might be. If you think you’d like to have been born in another decade I can assure you that you wouldn’t want to have been born in the one I was.

My advice is to make sure your dreams are achievable. There is nothing as bad as ending up in a place you didn’t expect to exist.

The manner in which amateur radio is depicted in movies like Contact is totally at odds with reality. Jodie Foster was certainly not an amateur radio operator as a child as I was. This was also the case for whoever wrote the screen play for what I thought was an entertaining but nevertheless opportunistic motion picture. I don’t know how faithful the film was to the book by Carl Sagan, someone I do remember and continue to greatly admire, but my guess is that he wasn’t an amateur radio operator as a child either.

It would be much more difficult to accomplish what I was able to do fairly easily growing up in a small town in the US West than in would have been somewhere in a major city.

Unless I told them differently, the others I communicated with all over the planet by radio telegraphy thought of and treated me as an adult.

You see there just weren’t too many girls my age involved in it in those days.
